Fight ClubThroughout the novel, Palahniuk writes the name of the club in lowercase. The only occurrence of "Fight Club" as a proper noun is in the novel's title. Thus, all occurrences to "fight club" in this article refer to the fictional club, while all occurrences of "Fight Club" refer to the novel itself. The plot is based on an unnamed protagonist who struggles with his growing discomfort with consumerism and changes in the state of masculinity in American culture.
