Biography Age of Ruin was conceived as a band that would tie together the melodic elements of Scandinavian metal with the brutality of American hardcore. By 2003, after playing countless local shows, Age of Ruin was considered a torchbearer for the Washington DC metal and hardcore scenes. Unlike many of their metalcore brethren, Age of Ruin never eschewed their hardcore mentality. Blending furious melodic metal and mosh with driving rock found the band making the most brutal music to be embraced by metal and hardcore kids across the scene. After LP and EP releases on Tribunal Records, Age of Ruin released their most defining record to date, "The Tides of Tragedy" via Eulogy Records (Alveran Records in Europe) in the spring of 2004.
