Bernard Fanning (born 15 August 1969) is an Australian musician and songwriter best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band Powderfinger. In addition to a successful career with Powderfinger, Fanning has achieved success with an award winning solo career, which he embarked on while the group was on hiatus. Fanning is married to Andrea Portela Moreno, whom he wed at the start of 2007 in Brisbane, Australia. Early life Fanning was raised in Brisbane's northern suburbs. One of four children, Fanning's mother began teaching him to play piano as a young child, while his two brothers and sister were not interested in pursuing music. He attended St. Joseph's College, Gregory Terrace in Spring Hill, a suburb in the inner northern suburbs of Brisbane.
