    Billy Griffin was only in his early 20s when he was chosen to replace Smokey Robinson as the lead singer of The Miracles in 1973. It was a task many doubted he could accomplish but he swept away the doubts, and in 1975 landed one of the group's biggest hits with the multi-million selling #1 Pop smash, "Love Machine" ,along with the Platinum album from which it came, "City Of Angels",which he co- wrote with Miracles member Pete Moore. He also scored with " Do It Baby " , another huge hit for The Miracles ,which just missed the national Pop Top 10, peaking at #13,as well as a Billboard Top 10 R&B hit, "Don't Cha Love It'. After Motown the group signed to CBS. In 1982, Griffin released his first solo album Be With Me which yielded the UK Top 20 hit "Hold Me Tighter in the Rain". The following year, Respect yielded the club hit "Serious". After a third album with Leon Ware, Griffin switched label to Atlantic but despite completing a
