Common Cause is a nonpartisan lobbying group based in Washington, D.C. in
the United States. Its current president and CEO is Robert W. Edgar.
Founded in 1970 by John W. Gardner, Common Cause employs professional
lobbyists, researchers and advocates who work with its members and
activists for campaign finance reform, accountability in government, media
reform and other issues.
Common Cause published Common Cause Magazine, once termed "the little
magazine that could," from 1980 through 1996.
