Dave Barnes (born David Barnes on June 20, 1978) is a rock-r&b singer-songwriter from Kosciusko, Mississippi in the U.S.. Barnes is known - aside from his music - by his humorous and witty anecdotes. As a recording artist, Barnes is one of few successful artists who has achieved critical and some commercial success as an independent recording artist. Biography The oldest of three children, Dave Barnes was born in South Carolina in 1978. He is the son of a Presbyterian (PCA) pastor who relocated his family to Kosciusko, Mississippi, just as Dave turned six years old. After ten years in Mississippi, the Barnes family moved to Knoxville, Tennessee the summer before Dave's junior year in high school.Though Dave was a percussionist in his high school bands, he eventually began writing songs in addition to playing drums.
