Deranged is an Canadian/American movie made in 1974 and directed by Alan Ormsby. It is also known as Deranged: Confessions of a Necrophile in the USA. It is a low-budget movie that has since become something of a cult film. Plot Apparently influenced by the true case of Wisconsin serial killer Ed Gein, the movie stars Roberts Blossom as Ezra Cobb, a seriously disturbed man in his fifties who is dominated by his bed-ridden mother. Cobb, who is evidently a psychopath, begins digging up bodies of women from a local cemetery before progressing to murder. Although the tone of the film is disturbing, like the subject matter, there are occasional glimpses of black comedy. At various points, a narrator delivers an update on what is going on and suggesting to the viewers what horrors will lie ahead, all delivered in an appropriately creepy tone of voice.
