The Doug Anthony All Stars (DAAS) were an Australian musical comedy group comprising Tim Ferguson, Richard Fidler and Paul McDermott. The reasoning behind the group's name, while never officialy confirmed by the group, stems from the members growing up in Canberra as the children of government beauracrats and the much maligned Doug Anthony being Deputy Prime Minister at this time during the Malcolm Fraser years. Anthony endured moments of controversy during his time as Deputy PM including the Nugan Hand Bank scandal and became a popular target for satirist's including DAAS along with another Australian band Redgum.
