Dougie MacLean (born 1954 in Perthshire, Scotland) is a singer-songwriter, composer and multi-instrumentalist. His career started with a traditional band, The Tannahill Weavers, in 1976. His solo career started in 1981 and he recorded five albums. Adaptations of this piece by Trevor Jones appeared on the Last of the Mohicans soundtrack and one of them, "Promontory", made a later resurgence as part of a Nike advertisement entitled Leave Nothing.
