Finjan is a privately owned web security company headquartered in San Jose, California. Finjan sells its proactive web security solutions, marketed under the brand name "Vital Security^TM," to enterprises of all sizes. History Finjan was founded in 1996 by Shlomo Touboul, who served as its first CEO. In 1998, Shlomo Touboul left the company to set up Runway, a fund specializing in seed-stage start-ups. He was succeeded in 1999 by Bill Lyons, who served as President and CEO. In 2001, Bill Lyons stepped down and was briefly replaced by Phil Kantz. At the request of the Board of Directors, Shlomo Touboul returned to an active management role in 2001 and served as President and CEO until 2005. Asher Polani has been the President and CEO of Finjan since July 2005. He led a strategic reorganization and redirection, which focused the company exclusively on web security.
