Frank Gambale (born December 22, 1958) is an Australian jazz fusion guitarist. He is renowned for his use of the sweep-picking technique. Biography He graduated from the Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT) in Hollywood with Student of the Year honors. After graduation, he played the jazz club circuit with his own band and published his first book "Speed Picking". In 1986 he signed a 3 album contract with a small label called Legato. In 1986, he toured with Jean-Luc Ponty and shortly after that auditioned for Chick Corea. That began a 6 year stint with Corea's band and he participated in 5 albums, sharing in a Grammy award and two Grammy Nominations. In 1986 he signed an endorsement deal with Ibanez guitars which spawned the Frank Gambale model guitar which was sold worldwide starting in 1987.
