Gintar? is a singer who was born in Lithuania during the Russian occupation. She studied classical piano and wrote her first song ?Skylark? at the age of six. The song went on to win a Lithuanian radio contest. At the age of 13 she wrote two radio hit songs, ?In the Heart of Clover? and ?Wooden Horses?. At the ago of 15 she played the lead role in the ?Chasing the Fire? rock opera. Gintar? simultaneously graduated from High School and Music Academy for Classical Piano studying classical piano and jazz improvisation at music the academy in Klaipeda Lithuania (Vilnius University). She emigrated to the United States in 1982 fleeing persecution of the Lithuania?s occupying government and secret service. Gintare became a United States Citizen in 1983. In the 1990s she developed a music career in England.
