The Osbournes

Kelly Osbourne, and the rest of her immediate family (sans Aimee), were thrust into the international spotlight with the MTV reality show The Osbournes. It chronicled their day-to-day life, and became a runaway hit for its portrayal of a dysfunctional, though close-knit, family where metal music, profanity and other harshness were a daily part of life. Kelly, the middle child, emerged (according to Rolling Stone) as "a wickedly funny, brutally honest, pint-size, potty-mouthed spitfire."Eliscu, Jenny (2002-12-12), "Kelly Osbourne". Rolling Stone. debut album, Shut Up!, was released in 2002 to moderate sales, fueled mostly by a cover version of the hit Madonna song "Papa Don't Preach", which was debuted with Houston rock band Pure Rubbish at the 2002 MTV Movie Awards.Orecklin, Michele (2002-10-28), "WE'RE ON THE LIST". Time. 160 (18):73 Osbourne's 2002 debut with Epic Records, "Shut Up!", debuted at #1 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart. The album was met with bad critical reviews and, by May 2003, Osbourne had been dropped from Epic Records. However, by autumn she had resurfaced on the Sanctuary label, later recording a duet of "Changes" (a Black Sabbath song) with her father. The duet hit #1 on the UK charts, a first for both father and daughter. Shut Up! was repackaged with this duet and a few live cuts and re-released as Changes. Sales did not improve, however. Her tour sales were mediocre, and citing exhaustion and food poisoning, she cancelled the rest of the dates on August 12 of that year.Adkins, Greg; Wren, Jennifer; Bargenda, Volker; Bastone, Bill; Bell, Carrie; Benet, Lorenzo; Chiu, Alexis; Daly, Sean; Ehrich, Katherine; Geering, Deborah; Hamm, Liza; Herbst, Diane; Howard, Caroline; Jordan, Julie; Marx, Linda; McNeil, Liz; Nussbaum, Gail; Perry, Simon; Podesta,, Jane; Rodriguez, Brenda (2003-08-25), "Kelly: The Show's Over". Personal life

Osbourne sports many tattoos all over her body, including a skull-and-crossbones design on both feet, small angel wings on her back, an outlined star on the back of her neck, a tiny pink heart on her hip, a ship's anchor on the back of her left forearm, a tiny pink heart on her little finger (the same as ex-boyfriend Bert McCracken), a padlock and key with the word "Daddy" above it, a musical keyboard on the back of her right forearm, and the name of her brother, Jack, on her wrist.

Beginning in 2002, Osbourne began publicly making disparaging remarks about pop singer Christina Aguilera, and, on one episode of The Osbournes, mimicking Aguilera's "overexaggerated" vocals. Osbourne even got into a fight with her brother Jack for speaking to Aguilera at a club. Things came to a boiling point at the 2003 MTV Europe Awards,Scaggs, Austin; Sheffield, Rob (2003-12-11), "On the Scene". Rolling Stone. (937):56 which were hosted by Aguilera. Osbourne called Aguilera a "fat cow" on the red carpet. For the first time publicly, Aguilera responded in a pre-taped skit used as the introduction to the program: Aguilera was seen throwing darts at a poster of Osbourne. Osbourne, retaliated while presenting an award, commenting that she felt honored to have Aguilera sink so low after all she has achieved, and was booed by the audience. It's still unknown why Osbourne developed animosity for the singer. Aguilera later called Osbourne "a little girl who can't handle a rebuttal". On a 2007 episode of the talk show Ellen, Sharon Osbourne confirmed, that Aguilera?ironically?had bought The Osbourne's LA mansion, and described her as "lovely Christina".

In September 2006, at the Electric Picnic festival in Ireland, Osbourne and her boyfriend, Matty Derham of the band Fields, held a wedding ceremony in the on-site inflatable church and days later were spotted buying gold bands. Her representative denied that the ceremony was legally binding, as it did not meet Irish legal requirements.

At an HIV charity benefit in February 2007, Osbourne revealed that the event was special to her because one of her family members was HIV positive; she didn't specify whom. It was later revealed that it is her cousin Terry Longden, from the reality series The Salon. Longden had been present at the event.
