  • Biography Lucky Soul

    Lucky Soul
Lucky Soul are a British six-piece indie pop band based in Greenwich, south east London. Their influences range from Motown through to Saint Etienne. Formed towards the end of 2004, the band consists of Ali Howard on vocals, Andrew Laidlaw and Ivor Sims on guitars, Toby Fogell on bass, Malcolm Young on keyboards and Nathaniel L. Perkins on drums. Signed to their own label Ruffa Lane, they are illustrative of a growing, internet-enabled trend - notably practised by bands such as Enter Shikari and KOOPA - to self-release. Debut single My Brittle Heart / Give Me Love, released in March 2006, put the band on the map when it was made 'single of week' by the Guardian newspaper and described as featuring "melodies as colossal, memorable and irresistible as a stampede of elephants bearing down on your tent". In June of that year they released another single, Lips are Unhappy. This was followed by an EP entitled Ain't Never Been Cool
