MC Shy D (born Peter Jones) from Atlanta, Georgia, is one of the most popular early Miami Bass rappers. He is Afrika Bambaataa's cousin. His early singles were released on 4-Sight Records, and his string of highly successful albums came out on Luke Skyywalker Records (later Luke Records). After a stint in jail, he was released to find an overhwelming amount of royalties due to him from Luke Records, and effectively executed a lawsuit against the company. He later worked together with Atlanta artist DJ Smurf. MC Shy D is known for fast rapping and a high-pitched voice.
