Biography Motu

The term
Motu can mean several things:
- Motu is a language of Papua New Guinea.
- MOTU, also known as "Mark of the Unicorn", a maker of professional audio hardware and software
- Masters of the Universe, a very successful action figure line of the 1980s, commonly abbreviated as MotU or MOTU.
- Motu, a Latin word; translated to English means "to move, arouse, affect, influence".
Islands
Motu is the word for
island in many Polynesian languages - as such it is common in place names such as:
- Motu Iti
- Motu Nao
- Motu Nui
- Motu Oa
- Motu One
- Motu Paahi
- Motueka
- Motukawao
- Motuloa
- Motutapu
- Tuamotu
As well as meaning
island, it also means
cut off (as islands are from the mainland) or by extension
isolated.
- Motu River in New Zealand, so named because of the isolation of a village (also called Motu) in its headwaters by thick forests.
