O.V.N.I is a British electronic band started by Sandrine Gouriou and Steven Young under the name Spermwhale. The band managed to win the Battle of the Bands competition at Whitby Goth Weekend and played at the Planet Myer events to great crowds. Unfortunately none of the European labels took them seriously with the name as they felt it had serious comic/sexual innuendo overtones. The name was changed to O.V.N.I (French for UFO) and Belgian label Alfa Matrix signed them. This now put them on the same label as their other project Seize. Steve, Sandrine and Rosie are also part of the new Visage.
