P.L.A.N. (Planning and Learning with Accordance to Need) was a 1970's era
school curriculum which was designed to allow students to learn at their
own pace without the need of traditional classroom instruction (i.e. a
teacher lecturing in front of a blackboard).
A worksheet called a TLU (Teacher Learning Unit) was used for instruction
along with various other workbooks. TLU's came in different grade levels
for each subject. There were no standard tests or exams. Instead, students
went through as many TLU's as they wished (a TLU was completed by taking a
multiple choice test on IBM style computer cards). Pupils, however, were
expected to complete at least one TLU per week.
