Biography Petey Pablo

Petey Pablo

Moses Barrett III (born September 10, 1979, in Greenville, North Carolina), known by the stage name Petey Pablo, is an American Southern hip hop artist signed to Jive Records. Pablo rose to fame in 2001 and not only in his native North Carolina but the whole country. His single, "Raise Up," took the United States by surprise by making it into Billboard's Top 30 pop singles and Top Ten R&B singles.

Pablo decided to move to New York to try and achieve mainstream success, he then met rappers such as Busta Rhymes, Mystikal, and Black Rob. On a remix of "Whoa!" Pablo caught then attention of famous producer Timbaland. While at a club in New York Jive's head of A&R happened to hear Pablo rapping with Black Rob and decided to sign him to a contract.

Pablo is well known for his sexually explicit single Freak a Leek, which is produced by Lil Jon

Petey Pablo didn't come into the mainstream rap scene like Most Southern Rappers do with starting off being and underground rapper he took the direct approach into mainstream rap. He spent 5 years in a North Carolina prison for armed robbery before his rap career. He makes references to this in his song "Stick em up" on his second album "Still Writing In My Diary: 2nd Entry".
