Phil Vassar (born May 28, 1964 in Lynchburg,
Virginiahttp://www.cmt.com/artists/az/vassar_phil/bio.jhtml) is an American
country music singer-songwriter, noted for his use of a piano as a backing
instrument.
He made his debut on the American country music scene in the latter half
of the 1990s, co-writing Number One singles for Tim McGraw, Jo Dee Messina,
and Alan Jackson. By late 1999, Vassar was signed to a record deal with
Arista Nashville. His debut album, Phil Vassar, was released in early 2000;
it produced five hit singles on the U.S. Billboard country singles charts,
and was certified gold in the United States.
As a singer, Phil has charted fifteen singles on the Billboard Hot Country
Songs charts, including two Number One singles: "Just Another Day in
Paradise" (2000) and "In a Real Love" (2004). He has also co-written five
additional Number One singles for other artists.
