Porcupine Tree is an English progressive rock band formed in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, England by Steven Wilson. Their music is a combination of rock, psychedelia, and metal. The main songwriter and founder of the band, Steven Wilson, once commented: "I like so many different types of things, and they all go into the melting pot, if you like, that produces the music of Porcupine Tree." Porcupine Tree's latest studio album, Fear of a Blank Planet, was released on April 16, 2007 in the UK and Europe, April 24 in the US and May 1 in Canada, featuring Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson and King Crimson's Robert Fripp. The promotional tour for the new album began in the UK the same month of the release. The band was voted number 1 band of the last decade (1997 to 2006) by Dutch Progressive Rock Page members. History
