|Other Name:||Magnesium Dioxide||Appearance:||White Or Yellowish Powder|
Magnesium peroxide is a fine, odorless and tasteless white or yellowish powder. Similar to Calcium Peroxide, it is another kind of oxygen release agent which slowly decompose to generate oxygen at a "controlled" rate when in contact of hydrous media.
|Appearance||white or yellowish powder|
|Active Oxygen, %||≥10|
|Active Component (MgO2), %||≥30|
|Bulk Density, g/L||400-800|
In certain circumstances MgO2 has also been shown to inhibit growth of bacteria. In particular, the growth of sulfate-reducing bacteria can be inhibited in an environment containing magnesium peroxide. While the oxygen slowly dissociates, it is theorized that it may then act to displace the sulfate that normally acts as the terminal electron acceptor in their electron transport chain.
Magnesium Peroxide is also useful for coating seeds for gardening and adding to sprouting seeds to improve germination and alkalise, oxygenate and sterilise the young roots as it slowly liberates hydrogen peroxide and oxygen.
Used in bioremediation as an oxygen source.
Bleaching and oxidizing agent.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid formation of dust and aerosols. Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at places where dust is formed. Normal measures for preventive fire protection.
Store in cool place. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place.Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage.
