Sevara Nazarkhan (original Uzbek spelling Sevara Nazarxon) is an Uzbek
singer, songwriter, and musician. She was born in Andijan city in the
Fergana Valley.
She started her career in show business in Sideris. The director was
Mansur Tashmatov Uzbek, a producer and musician. The group consisted of
four girls. When she later went solo, she gained more popularity.
The instrument she plays is the doutar, a form of medieval Central Asian
lute. She does not make just national folk music, but combines it with
modern music. She has received critical acclaim for her 2003 album Yol
Bo'lsin, which French producer Hector Zazou worked on. She also provided
vocals for the 2005 Afro Celt Sound System album, Anatomic.
She also received the Best Asian Artist award from BBC Radio 3.
