    The Dictators are a rock and roll band formed in New York City in 1973http://www.thedictators.com/english.html. (1975) was perhaps the first album released by a New York punk group. They found relatively little commercial success, and their smart-guys-playing-dumb shtick would be further refined by later punkers -- notably The Ramones. The Dictators are represented in the "Punk Wing" of the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, in Cleveland, Ohio.
