Real McKenzies is a Scottish-influenced Celtic punk band founded in Vancouver, Canada in 1992. All, or most, of the band members have Scottish heritage.
In addition to writing and performing original music, Real McKenzies resurrect traditional Scottish songs, giving them a new punk-influenced sound. They include bagpipes in all of their studio albums and at most of their concerts. Lead singer Paul McKenzie leads a high-energy act that tours extensively, including an eight-month, 23-country tour in a van. On some of these tours, they have shared stages with Rancid, DragStrip Riot, NOFX, Flogging Molly, Rough Chukar, The Misfits, Metallica, Voodoo Glow Skulls and even Shane MacGowan. Their songs have been used in beer commercials and featured in video games such as Tony Hawk Underground.
