Trick Pony is an American country music group founded in 1996 by Keith
Burns (lead guitar, vocals), Ira Dean (bass guitar, vocals), and Heidi
Newfield (lead vocals, harmonica, guitar). Under this original lineup, the
group recorded three major-label studio albums: Trick Pony (2001), On a
Mission (2002), and R.I.D.E. (2005). The group also charted eight singles
on the United States of America (U.S.) Billboard Hot Country Songs charts,
with their highest-peaking being 2001's "On a Night Like This".
In 2006, Newfield departed the group in order to pursue a solo career,
with Aubrey Collins taking her place as lead singer. A year later, however,
Collins herself left as well. So far, neither Burns nor Dean have announced
official plans for the group.
