Tupelo Honey is an album by Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison, released
in 1971 (see 1971 in music). The hymn-like title track has been an enduring
hit, as well as the other single released from the album, "Wild Night".
The namesake for the album is a varietal honey produced from the flowers
of the tupelo tree in southeastern United States.
The cover photograph showed Janet, his wife at the time, on horseback and
Van walking alongside. It was an album of rural, domestic bliss, but the
marriage was to break up within a few years.
The vocals on the album were always live after rehearsing each song five
or six times, according to saxophonist Boots Houston. The only
